When photography's truthfulness took flight

The following is an article written by Stella Fenwick in January 2026.

At the time of writing the article, Stella was a student at Durham University and Deputy Editor of the university’s magazine, Indigo (https://www.palatinate.org.uk/category/indigo/).

She was inspired by the Edinburgh exhibition (2025-2026)  and decided she wanted to write about Buckham’s photography for the Durham student community. 

The specific images she used are

  • Durham Storm Brewing
  • The Statue of Christ on Corcovado
  • Popocatépetl.
